Be Your Own Valentine This Year

As February 14th arrives, so does the long list of expectations that comes along with it. I’m not saying to throw away the heartfelt cards and candies, or to cancel your date with your sweetheart. In fact, I think those things are important. But what if this year you choose to do things a little differently? What if, when you make your list of valentines, you include yourself this time? Showing yourself some love this Valentine’s Day could be your sweetest decision yet.

Making your well-being a priority is not about being selfish. This is about putting yourself first so that you are better equipped to help others and gracefully handle what the day brings. This is about loving yourself so that you can offer more love to the community around you. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day and all things self-love, here are 3 super easy ways to #LoveYoSelf! 1) Be gentle with yourself. In a world of “shoulda & coulda” , that internal voice that we aren’t enough is constantly playing. If we are not conscious about our thoughts toward ourselves, we can get caught up in the busyness of life and endless comparisons. Quiet your mind, be still and know that you already have enough, do enough and are enough. 2) Treat yourself. This could look like a nice meal, a massage, fresh flowers, curling up with a good book or a little self-treatment sesh at a Be Still P.T. workshop! 3) Move your body. Go to a local yoga or fitness class. Take a walk in the park or a day trip to snowshoe in the mountains. The teeniest bit of exercise will improve your mood, boost your immune system and show your body how much you appreciate all that it can do for you
